.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Friday)
Issued at 257 AM EDT Thu Mar 26 2026

Current satellite shows an area of low clouds pushing in from the
southeast. This area is expected to keep pushing into central
Georgia this morning and up towards ATL and AHN. Beneath the low
cloud deck, conditions are favorable for patchy fog to develop
over portions of central Georgia with calm winds and RHs near
100% in many areas. Not expecting visibilities to tank but will
keep an eye on it through the overnight. Once we get to mid day,
high pressure over the area will lead to the morning fog/low
clouds to dissipate and clear out skies as temperatures rise into
the low 80s across the area. Expecting similar conditions tomorrow
with the potential for morning fog/low clouds and then clearing
skies before a front begins to sink towards the northern portions
of the area into the evening. Temperatures tomorrow will rise to
the mid to upper 80s which will continue our trend of temps being
15-20 degrees above normal. We will be knocking on the door of
record high temperatures tomorrow as well.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday night through Wednesday)
Issued at 257 AM EDT Thu Mar 26 2026

Cooler and Dry This Weekend:

A weakening cold front will push in from the north late Friday
into early Saturday, but would at most bring a 10-20% chance of
rain across far northern GA. The more noteworthy impact will be a
cool, dry airmass and breezy NW winds that will move in across
the area behind the front. High temps on Saturday will struggle
to climb out of the 60s for much of the area, with overnight lows
into Sunday morning in the low to mid 40s. Winds turn easterly
late Saturday and Sunday, but will only reinforce the cool
airmass with highs on Sunday again in the mid to upper 60s for
most areas. Despite the cooler temperatures, fire weather
concerns will increase given the very dry airmass and breezy
conditions.

Dry with a Warming Trend Next Week:

Model guidance remains in strong agreement on the pattern for the
first half of next week, with the strong ridge that has been over
the Southwest US finally starting to shift east. This will lead
to continued dry conditions and a strong warming trend from
Monday through at least Wednesday. Highs will likely climb back
into the mid to upper 70s on Monday, and then into the 80s for
Tuesday and Wednesday as the ridge axis shifts over the Southeast
US. With basically no rainfall in the forecast for the next 7
days across much of the area, ongoing drought conditions will
only worsen.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 623 AM EDT Thu Mar 26 2026

SCT to BKN IFR pushing in from the south currently and lasting
through ~14z.Should mainly affect MCN and AHN and possibly ATL if
it is able to push far enough north. Fog conditions expected to
continue for MCN and potentially affect AHN during this time frame
as well. Ceilings should become mostly clear by the afternoon
today and clear overnight. Winds currently out of the SSE will
turn to the SW at ~13-14z today and continue out of the SW at
5-7kt.

//ATL Confidence...12Z Update...
Medium confidence on northern extent of IFR.
High on all other elements.
